Since 1989, Resta-Jay Percussions has been designing and manufacturing percussion mallets in France. In our workshop in Verzé, Burgundy, we combine traditional craftsmanship, research and musical expertise to support percussionists from their first steps through to the professional stage.
Our philosophy is simple: choosing the right mallet should serve your playing, your instrument and your musical intention.

A story born from musical practice
The story began with Pierre-François Resta. A percussionist and teacher, he set out to create mallets that would meet his own musical requirements. His research and early creations led to the founding of Resta Percussions in 1989.
In 2009, Emmanuel Jay took over the company, which then became Resta-Jay Percussions. As a musician, teacher and craftsman, he continued this approach by expanding the collections, developing manufacturing techniques and building close relationships with numerous artists.
In the workshop, every detail matters
A mallet is created through a series of carefully controlled steps: shaping the handles and cores, working with yarn or felt, and refining the weight, dimensions and balance. The way these elements come together determines both the playing feel and the sound response..
In our workshop, we pay close attention to each of these details in order to create mallets suited to different instruments, repertoires and musical approaches.

"Living Heritage Company" Label
A distinction of the French State
The Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant (Living Heritage Company, or EPV) label is a mark of recognition of the French State, put in place to reward French firms for the excellence of their traditional skills. The label has been awarded at RESTA-JAY Percussions company in 2014 by M. Emmanuel Macron, French Economic Minister and Mme Carole Delga, Minister Delegate. The label brings together producers committed to the quality of their trades and products, and it is be awarded to any undertaking consisting in particular of rare, renowned skills.
In 2022, the company renewed this prestigious certification. The “Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant” label recognises French companies committed to excellence in their craft and the quality of their products. It is awarded to businesses with rare and renowned expertise.
EPV-labelled companies keep their production activity within France, Resta-Jay Percussions is able to take on the most original orders, and to provide unique, tailor-made solutions to cater for the most specialised of requirements and the most demanding of customers.
