Attitude – Tambour, by Emmanuel JAY: a repertoire piece for marching drum.
Written for the end of the study cycle, the piece calls for real rhythmic precision and solid technique. The introduction, lively in rhythm and full of dynamic contrast, sets the tone of the piece. The rhythmic ambiguity of some passages calls for precise, assured control. Downloadable sheet music. Set piece for the CMF third cycle B marching drum examination, the CFBF Prix Fédéral and the FSCF Grand Prix National. The second section, in 12/8, is more traditional in spirit, a reminder that this is drum playing above all.
Written for a single player, it can also be practised by several players in unison.
