Imbrications, by David Reyes, is a repertoire piece for glockenspiel, vibraphone, marimba 4-1/3 and 2 shakers, playful in character, working with rhythms and colours in interlocking blocks. Patterns a few bars long, usually four, answer and dovetail into each other in a structure that climbs gradually in range and in harmony. After the introduction states the main motif on vibraphone, everything is in constant motion until the calmer closing section, as though quietly surveying what has been built. A piece for keyboard percussion trio. Level: very difficult, conservatoire third cycle.
